Natalie Portman was perfect for this role... Beyond Amazing ! which by the way ... she won an Oscar.. the highest privilege an actor can earn in the film industry ... so good for her !
Portman was good, the mother was good as well. The movie just did not appeal to me greatly. I understand it was a journey she took to be able to play the role of a lifetime for her. However there was too much tedium and by the time they revealed what I suspected all along I just wanted it to be over. I liked the way it ended but that doesn't make it great film. 2.5/5 Oh, and what a crazy ass Bi***

I found this movie to be a complete yawn from start to finish. I almost gave up 3/4 way through, but decided to sit it out, now I wish I hadn't bothered.
Very weak plot, I suppose if you are into ballet you might enjoy it. For storyline, completely unoriginal and slow, I'd give it a 2/5.
this was an oscar winning movie, and like most movies choosen by the academy it was not for the average movie 'goer'. first off ballet=boring. a thriller of some sort, but really, not your typical movie. i had to struggle through this, and couldn't find myself 'feeling' it at all. the lead actress needs to eat a few cheeseburgers too. 2/5
This movie was shot elegantly, the casting superb and a solid storyline. But sadly it is a ballet movie, nothing wrong with that just bit of an obscure topic.
I would say give it a watch Portman really got into the mind frame (a little to well)
I would also say that the truly intelligent would comprehend the diversity of man (or woman). For the brain to be engaged a common interest must be found, if not it would be completely futile. They ('Intelligent People' also should really be looking into bigger things than people's responses to movies (world hunger, famine and gold digging postmen???)
I liked some of what I seen,but then I'm a red-blooded male. All in all,it's a bit crusty. Dusty. Cobwebby. Angular girls,pointy chins,noses,elbows,knees and breasts if applicable. Thats a lot of bone. A twig convention? Plenty of wood at least. A load of hens kickin up a load of dust if you ask me - and hardly a Rooster in sight! These swans would've been better served up as a Royal supper,hence 1.5/5 on my scale.

Natalie didn't win an Oscar for this movie for nothing I can tell you all that! This directors films are all very complex, I find that sometimes I miss the point all together. But this I got. Very good, dark, and horrifying. I think we watch these movies to experience those feelings. Lovely indeed! The Black Swan 9/10
Wow, lots of positive comments! But honestly, I can't believe I sat thru this whole "thing" Natalie Portman did herself no favors with this one. Never would I have watched this if had known what I know now. One of the most ridiculous movies I ever seen! 3/10
Most people say that they clearly do not understand this movie, but for some odd reason, I completely understood this movie. I haven't ever really seen people do ballet, so I was quite astonished of how ballet could be so BEAUTIFUL! I very much appreciate fine arts. I would love to see this movie again. It was so inspirational and so passionate with Ballet. I recommend people to watch this movie. I rate this a 10/10. And if you didn't like it, then I am sorry to hear that. Well, everybody has their opinions and a different taste in movies. :)
Well this is by far my fav. movie in a very long time and i watch a lot of movies. Such a beautiful story with beautiful actors really feeling their parts. Natalie im sure had to go threw some emotional triumphs to fulfill the role as lovely as she did. Keeps you guessing, and gets you on to a roller coaster of a ride threw the eyes of a sweet girl trying to impact perfection and darkness without losing herself. It will touch you in a way very few movies have.

It was an okay movie, it's nothing special but it will win awards because of the hype that surrounds it. As rachelsOne seems to have no life and checks back for negative comments everyday hopefully she doesn't call me "uneducated" or say I didn't understand the movie because I simply don't think of it as the holy grail of movies. I wish i never even looked at the comments section because it's a condescending person like her that actually makes me enjoy the movie even less its sad to say.
I guess according to RachelOne I must be uneducated & immature because I really didn't think too highly of this film. It was ok I guess, kept me interested enough to watch the whole thing but it didn't leave me with that "wow" feeling that a lot of people seem to get from it. For one thing I felt it tried too hard to be artsy. A true artsy film shouldn't have to try.
The character Nina got on my nerves, she was so whiny and weak. I realize that was essential to the story because that was her "white swan" and she had to draw on her "black swan" to overcome that. So yes I understand it but it still got on my nerves.
I have no doubts it will win awards, it's the kind of film that does and that's fine. I guess it just doesn't happen to be the kind of film that agrees with my tastes. I'm glad so many people seem to have enjoyed it and gotten so much out of it and I would never dream of putting them down for their taste in movies, but then again that's an "artsy" kind of thing to do and obviously I'm not "artsy"

I saw the movie, I understood it, and I effing hated it! Natalie Portman is a great actress but, this movie just wasn't my cup of tea just like some others. I did not know what to except from this movie so I gave it a shot. First off whoa. Second 4.5/5, the 0.5 points off because of the masterbating scene awkward. This movie was great, it was so beautifully creepy and artistic. The acting was on point and very well done by Natalie Portman. After watching this I really want to go to the ballet show because I original thought "it was boring why go?" but now I want to give it a shot. Anyway, just watch it and give it a try.
bello bello, very good movie, a mix of suspence and drama with a touch of sensuality. a split personality is hard to diagnose and this movie shows it in a good setting of competing that brings out the best and worst in humans. 8/10
Black Swan is about the pursuit of perfection that gets the better of Nina, who is of a temperament unsuited to weathering the stress of such a role. That seems to suggest an eventual breaking point, but Black Swan does not rely on a grand reveal, or a cheap twist. Instead, Aronofsky peppers the film with unnerving, creepy, ambiguous moments, keeping the audience on edge as the tension mounts. 3/5
I was hesitant about watching this @ first, but WOW! It was better than I expected. It had a very odd (in a good way) Kubrick feel to it. Very different movie. 8/10
Cassell, Kunis and Portman did an awesome job here, the movie don't have much action, but it is still great to see that dancer gets deep into madness, oscar worthy! I don't even like ballet and I liked this movie.
I dont normally go for this kind of movie but it was amazing I'm going to watch it again Natalie's dancing and acting were fantastic, I'm not really a fan of ballet but I loved this... 5 stars
Oh my god, after reading all these positive comments from other people all around the globe I was quite looking forward to watching this movie with my husband. So, after telling him to get the pop corn ready and patiently waiting for the copy to ''upload''... we finally got down watching the movie.
Little did we know that this movie is utter rubbish, what is everyone baffeling on about????? W**! This movie is terribly atrocious, dam right boring, utterly revolting and not worth our limited time.
I think youll probably watch this movie with ''Hope'' ....

Mesmerizing...Completely captivating performance from Natalie Portman. The story is exceptionally well played and so surreal...To see an actor so convincing is such a rare quality these days. I forgot that I was watching a movie and thought that the story was real. I didn't see Portman the actress, only Nina her characture. I will agree with the early OSCAR buzz about this movie because it is definitly worthy. 4.8 / 5.0 MUST SEE !!! Don't Miss This One. The special effects are outstanding considering the miniscual budget this production had. For a low budget film to deliver in this way, only goes to show that Hollywood's big budget explosion movies are so off course. This triller/suspence/drama rocks as an ACTION movie.
Natalie Portman really did good this movie ... she lost herself in her character so well - I thought I was losing my mind & Mila - she played a evil manuplicating character to a T - she did well ! : ) this movie was good from beginning to end - 10 out of 10. Definetly Oscar Worthy Material!

I really didn't understand that well what was happening in the first part of the movie so wasn't liking it much but the last part was great. If you took the time and watched the whole thing, it seemed to me the movie took you on a journey of madness which this ballerina was. They don't make such a big deal out of it but they give you clues she's gone anorexic and after a certain stage they do start to hallucinate. Very interesting film but not for the masses really. I do have to say Natalie Portman was at her best here. 4/5 only if you watch the whole thing.

What happened in the very beginning of the movie is explained over and over again throughout the entire movie. Why is it that you can't understand that? Did you even pay attention to what you were watching?
The movie makes perfect sense but it isn't a movie for teenagers or younger children, because unless you studied dance you won't understand the movie if you're young.
I've watched street dance (ballay street dance) but, just balay itself I did not like at all. I wasn't engaged with this movie and stopped watching it after 20mins. I reccomend to the wider audience, watch the first 20mins, if you enjoy it carry on, if not then just stop. I believe this is targetted at a specfic audience and definitely not my taste. This is written in the accress point of view so obviously, she has to act everything. I don't believe she will win awards tho, maybe nominated yes, but not win. I'm not going to rate this movie as I couldn't bare to watch till the end, but don't let the tarnish your opinions. It's spelled Ballet, NOT Balay or Ballay and you are right the movie is targeted to a specif audience. It is meant for an educated audience. Ballet is centuries old and classical, street dancing is at the most 40 years old and urban. You shouldn't be telling readers not to watch Black Swan because you are clearly out of your league, failing to understand anything about the movie.
I took ballet for ten years and I believe that anyone doing whatever they feel PASSIONNATE about knows how it feels like you live it, you eat it, you read it, you dream it . . . it is you and you are it. Passion ! This is superb acting, directing, thrilling film I have seen in very long time ! Don't you dare miss it - it's MUST watch. Oohra ! 10 /10 MORE !
I've never studied ballet. Maybe if I had I wouldm't have tried to stand "en pointe" as a child without the proper shoes. It was traumatizing to say the least. But I've always admired the archetype of the "naughty ballerina" and Portman gives a very strong performance.
If you watch: The Making of Black Swan you can catch a glimsp of Natalie "En Pointe" (on the tips of her toes) proving that she did some of the actual dancing since she studied Ballet as a child and for an additional year while preparin for her role as Nina Sayers: The ballerina with the borderline personality disorder.

i loved this movie.. it had me on the edge of my sit till the end... i love it so much i think i will watch it again... if you are tried of the same odd show this movie is for you.. by far the best movie of this year going into next. i give this movie like a billion stars =).. she is a great actress and a great black swan.

Besides being an amazing movie, I think a lot of guys (and some girls) just had their prayers answered when Mila and Natalie hooked up. It actually had me questioning my orientation for a minute there! Lol.
Like others have said "WOW" this is an absolutely amazing movie that will hold your interest from beginning to end! Natalie Portman does an Oscar worthy performance here!
This was an EXCELLENT movie! I can't rant and rave enough to do it any justice. I was so engrossed and confused the whole time and couldn't figure out what was going on for the life of me. I think the ending suited it with just enough to let you catch hold of what was happening, but not enough to explain it. Had it been explained, I think, would have ruined the movie. Its just enough to keep you wondering and gossiping after. Well thought out! It is impeccable!
All I can say is WOW!!!! Great movie and wonderful acting. That girl was messed up some kind of bad. Liked the girl moments alot ;-)...Thanks again Zmovie
The 2010 Oscar nominations haven't been announced yet but if Black Swan is overlooked or if Natalie doesn't get nomijnated for Best Actress and doesn't win I will forever stop watching movies I swear!
