A crime/drama set in 1960 London, where a soon to retire janitor (Caine) convinces a glass-ceiling constrained American executive (Moore) to help him steal a handful of diamonds from their employer, the London Diamond Corporation..
The only reason I watched this movie is because of Michael Caine (Butler from the Dark Knight), and also because of Demi Moore. When watching movies of British actors you expect this subtle elegancy in acting and this movie had that, and I certainly love what British actors bring to the screen be it in Harry potter or old Sherlock Holmes movies.
Now as the movie begins you began to think oh, not another "jewel heist movies" but to my surprise this movie was quite interesting and there was a lot of mystery and deception to begin with, although everything was good there were quite a number of loop holes and if you think about those loop holes the story appears to be quite mundane and non-sensical. But as I say the acting was so damn brilliant that you wouldn't think about the loop holes in the story.
The screen play, direction, mystery and acting were amazing so watch it for these and you'll like it for sure. Give this movie a go you won't be disappointed.
A great little tale. The acting is excellent and the plot is thoroughly absorbing. There is a mystery to be solved and my mind was able to hint at the solution but I couldn't quite convince myself of it; maybe you will do better... :)
