A teenager suspects that his new neighbor is a vampire. A remake of the 1985 original, teenager Charley Brewster (Yelchin) guesses that his new neighbor Jerry Dandrige (Farrell) is a vampire responsible for a string of recent deaths. When no one he knows believes him, he enlists Peter Vincent (Tennant), a self proclaimed vampire killer and Las Vegas magician, to help him take down Jerry.
I thought the new vertion of this movie was pretty good the old vertion was good too but more gore in this one for sure and the acting was a plus too. I give it a 6/5.
It was rather boring the first 30 mins I saw of it, found myself going to sleep. I hate starting something and not finishing so I am going to give it another try.Its kind of cleshay(however you spell it) they could of had more suspense in the beginning, rather then going right into him being a vamp. I will give you thoughts later as I watch the rest.
This movie is not in any way shape or form better then the first... The acting sucked... and plot sucked.. it was nothing like the first and i think that this movie should be taken off.. I love the first one but the remake should have and could have been a lot better. The only good thing about this movie was the cameo
good movies overall but not better than the 1980's version
I seen the 1980's version and I like the vintage version better, the vampire in the old version is a woman not a male vampire, in the remake it's a male but other than that its a good movie. I didn't like the fact that mcloving (idk his real name) was turned into a vamp I mean out of so many geeks they chose mcloving, I really hated that part since he didn't act the part rite and he should have not been for this role it was a horrible idea but other than that the movie was evrything the original was and very entertaining and an average 7/10 movie. Why such a low grade well it's like I said before it was very mediocre with the action and it's suppose to be horror but there's nothing horrifying about it, it's actually more humor than horror seriously. Overall fun and a good movie but if u want to choose between the 80's and this one go with the 80's much better story and made to be more horror than this remake.
The original versions vampire was not a female,as a matter of fact he,Chris Sarandon makes a cameo appearance in this film as the driver that rearends the family as they are stopped on the highway.You are probably thinking of Fright Night 2 where the original vampires sister is the villain looking for revenge for her brothers death.
This was a very entertaining film. Not quite like the original, however, I doubt it was supposed to be. The highlight of the film, for me at least, was where Peter Vincent was removing his disguise, piece by piece, to reveal none other than "Dr. Who" himself - David Tennant.
4 a remake, it was ok. Thx 4 this site. Cable/internet already costs arm&leg & let's not talk about cost of taking a family out 2the movies these days. Again, thx u. U make my cable/internet/phone bill just a wee bit easier 2 pay.
Original was waaaay much better than this piece of trash. I almost fell asleep twice, but knew I had to stay awake if I didn't want to pick up where I left off tomorrow. I didn't need to add another day to this misery. The only thing I liked about it was the appearance of the official Jerry Dandridge from the original Fright Night(the older man on the side of the road).
I'd say stick to the eighties version. Much, much more entertaining.
This was a pretty good movie. As good as the original. The only things is the video quality in the dark or night scenes isn't very good. You can't make things out in the night scenes. But the movie itself was well acted and good storyline for a vampire movie. I will watch it again when it comes out on DVD. If you want to see it I suggest going to theater or waiting. But it is worth the cost to see at the cinema. 7.5/10
yes its a remake ... even though the original was good... and so is this one... both having thier own name in the horror genre.. even though this movie isnt totally classed as horror... but the action and suspense is good... Jerry the vampire was really good... new spin on Vincent... instead of the old guy in the first one they had a complete " robert downy jr " feel to him... the aristocrat snob turn hero kinda deal which is good for the modern version... the kid was great... over all a 9 / 10
Its a good movie for those that liked the original, its worth a watch. But could have been great with a little more imagination and action. but overall was good!
godswraith: silver is for werewolves ... they only made up silver so they could fire something out of a gun that would kill them or movies would get boring but the traditional way to kill a vampire is decapitation,fire,holywater,garlic,staked,daylight And for werewolves is silver or decapitation. But there is no such thing anyways just myth
@hapenny I dont think he is trying to say Bram Stoker wrote the original Fright Night,I think he is implying that he created the vampire genre and wouldnt like the movie.Anyhow I liked the movie,not as good as the original but was enjoyable to me.
ok i love old horrors but i never got around to seeing fright night as im not so into horror comedy but i might go have a look now any way so i rather enjoyed it, its not a bad add to the vampire genre colin farrell was very sexy eye candy and the story wasnt terrible nothing eye poppingly special but still a good watch i loved the odd camp old horror moments so that added a bit of sparkle but take it for what it is a mediocre vampire movie put in a market saturated with vampire movies i personally loved stakeland that came out earlier this year (dont be fooled by the cruddy name its a gem of a vampire movie) but my critique is wait for dvd or watch it here cuddle up with your honey and enjoy it for what it is nothing spectacular but enjoyable none the less
I saw the commercials for this movie on MTV channel... it looked like someone got a low budget SyFy movie and threw a few hundred thousand at it in advertisements. It looked like garbage on the ads, and I bet the full movie is garbage. What happened to vampire films? We go from Underworld, Blade, and From Dusk Til' Dawn to Twilight and "Fright Night." Vampire films were making a comeback in 2009 with Underworld Rise of The Lycans and now we are slowly declining again. On television there is "Teen Wolf" and stuff like that... when I was a kid/pre-teen back in like 2005 I liked vampire films so much I wanted to be a vampire myself. These crappy story writers and directors have RUINED vampires I hate them all :(
so far, from the first 37 mins of this movie it's slow and the acting is not that great. I wish they'd leave the originals alone. No director or producer has any real imagination left so they remake old shit into new shit. bad for business.

this was a horrible remake and this is exactly why i am tired of them remaking classics...rewatch them don't remake them...colin farrell is the only good thing about this remake...
haha The only remake of any movie I like is Ocean's 11. The rest are garbage. What the movie makers do now: they get a completely garbage story and throw millions of dollars of computer effects, animations, etc. and another ten million at advertisements. It's very annoying, the only movies I TRULY enjoyed this year were The Adjustment Bureau and Rise of the Planet of Apes.
your age does not matter...my daughter is 14 and wasn't even alive when the original was made but even she knows the original is the best... i'm glad some young people(like my daughter) have good taste in movies
Was actually pretty good for a remake. I am a big fan of the 80's version, so I had to see how this one turned out. They picked the perfect actors to play in this film,esp. the guy that played Mcluvin in Superbad...He made the perfect Evil Ed! I can't imagine anyone else playing that role besides him. Also, lets not forget Colin Farrel, he can take a bite outta me anytime!LOL!!! I also loved how the original Fright Night Vampire from the 80's movie played by "Chris Sarandon" had a little cameo in the film. Anyways, for the quality I give it a 4/5 and for the remake itself, I give it a 5/5 for changing it up a little...Well done! Thank you Zmovies for giving people like me, that can't afford or have the time to go to the theaters to put up this "AWESOME" site!~
Hay I thought this is going to be crap but when I read all your comments well got say it's well worth the watch and it made laugh as well. Overall watch it!
The is an excellent remake of the original. Im not into vampire movies too much, but sence I was a little boy watching the original Fright Night it's about the only ones I like. Audio Video was great (dark at times, but nothing to complain about, very good cam work). 4/5
It was pretty good for a remake. I was a big fan of the first one and this one is worth a watch. Colin Farrell was mediocre however as the Vamp! Anyways, 4/5.
It was very awesome! Perfect night time movie and it has a nice "tint" of comedy. Just so much more realistic than twilight if vampires were to exist. Go watch it, it is simply very entertaining! 10/10
