BRILLIANT MOVIE READ THE BOOK FIRST THEN WATCHED THE MOVIE, WAS SOO GOOD PEOPLE ARE STILL RACIST TODAY BUT SHOW IT IN DIFFERENT WAYS , GOSH BLACK PEOPLE TAKE A LOT OF SHITE BUT STILL SOILDER ON KEEP UP THE BRILLIANT WORK WATCH MOVIES HOPE COMMENT WAS NOT OTT BAND THOSE WHO KEEP COMPLAINING OR BETTER STLL DELETE AND IGNOR.
thought id give a males perspective considering i didnt see much of it in the comments section and i think most guts like my self had a slight impression that this movie would appeal more to women. Overall it was a decent movie. Yes its about women but it gives much more then that. Not sure if it deserved an oscar for best movie, but the nominations for acting were definitively well deserved
Definitely one of the best this year. A warmhearted yet intriguing story about social issue. Brought to life by immaculate performances of the cast and a really nice way of story telling. I love every aspect of it. Performances by Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer (show stealer & top contender for best supporting acctress for me) and Jessica Chastain (all 3 are top contestants for the Oscars this year) are immaculate, had it not been for these 3 ladies, the movie might not have been what itis now. its a definite watch and must have on DVD (if you like melodrama stuff once in a while)
It was not one of the better comedies I've seen. When the gags kicked in they were funny - but the satire was poorly written. I had a few lol moments - like when the maid used her boss's toilet and got fired: that was side splitting but very few good chuckles like that in a long comedy movie.
Where are all the comments about the movies that the users write? I have been checking for about a week now and they are all missing at the bottom of the link page. That is what makes this site special over other movie sites. Some other movie sites have the movie trailer and list the actors that are in the movie on their link page, but even so, they dont have the loyal users who vote and comment honestly like this site does. Thats what i love about this website. I always read the comments to see if the movie is good and what links are best to watch. That is what makes this site better than all the rest. The users here are honest and helpful. I hope this is just a glitch that is being fixed & the comments will be back up soon because that is what makes this website better than the others. Thank you.
I really like this movie.. Never Heard Of the Book.. But i think i might read It now....10/10 Shows life from the point of view of the domestic help in the racist 1950's..
I absolutely loved this film, It is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time It made me laugh and cry out loud, It was very touching with perfect casting, for me it was flawless and I enjoyed every minute of it, I will definitely be recommending this to everyone I know and getting the DVD when it is released...I have not read the book yet but I'm going to read it as soon as I can...5/5* from me :)
I'd be willing to bet that modern Southern white women are both livid and relieved when they see the situation their Southern Belle ancestors found themselves in. Relegated to lives as highly decorative, petty, backbiting air heads scuffling for husbands and social status. And mind you, these were educated women. They had to love Skeeter, who was bound to break the mold, thanks to the influence of her beloved black surrogate Mom. More than oppressed black folk were liberated as the Sixties moved on, don't you think?
I'm old enough to be able to put names and faces to individuals who lived the life depicted in this film. During the time period depicted, the early 60's, I was a young teenager living in Detroit. My Grandfather moved the family North in the Forties and two of his Sons (My Dad & Uncle) went back South to attend College (Morehouse & Fisk) and returned to find work. But years later, as I was a teen, many other black families were moving their relatives North to either escape the extreme racism & poverty and/or seek the good factory jobs. Many stories like that depicted in this excellent film came North with them & filled the eager ears of us young folk. They were every bit as gripping as this well told tale. OSCAR!!!
After the toilet seen that was enogh 4 me. My favorite aunt was a maid who used to go on vacations w/her employees, but she always said "no matter the place, I'm still the maid." Everynight I thank her for making me "take what was mine" and for kicking my butt when I felt like giving up or giving in. Watching the movie in its entirety will not change what happened, no matter how many so called friends (ya'll know what I mean) u think u have. Not all blacks were slaves, please what world do some people live in.
Absolutely flawless! Such a joy to watch! It brought tears to my eyes,laughter, and touched my heart deeply! If u haven't seen it, I strongly encourage u to watch it! I give this movie a 10/10 stars because I will never forget it;)
Enjoyed it from the beginning to the end...Dang im very appreciative for the ones who came before me who struggle to get us where we are today....worth the watch...makes me appreciate things much more knowing how much they have truly done for our culture as an African American women who is 22. OSCAR worth film...need more movies like this. 20/10!!!
I was really looking forward to this when I saw the trailer earlier this year, and I have to say it was well worth the wait. I (a man) cried so hard one minute then the other I was laughing my socks off. This movie has it all. This is one of my top ten films ever! A must watch for everyone. 10/10. I heard this was a great book and movie, from women only. So naturally I thought it would be a "Chick Flick". As a dude I have to say it is so much more. Such a good movie. The A/V was pretty good to. 9/10
Read the book first just saw the movie, it was great brilliant the film definantly dose it justice, can you believe people really behaved like that some still do to a certain degree, woah people of colour would not be alive today if they opened their mouth to breathe brilliant movie would watch again any more movies to that level out their? would love to see.
this has been one the most original , heartfelt , deep movie I have seen a lot while - this movie made all emotions come at once ... 10 out of 10 - do watch this movie , you won't regret it !
This is the Best Movie that I have seen in s very long time! It has you laughing one min and crying the next. 10/10 for me It really makes me sad to watch movies showing what things were like at that time. N so happy to know that it is not like that now!!!! i watched 30 minutes of this film and couldn't watched anymore cause this was such a reality and this movie made me angry!!! hmmm the ways of white folks were cruel and still are
I definitely get it.As an African American I felt the same way at first , but generalizing all white people, is just as bad as those who generalize all black folk. Not all white people were racist, then or now.
If you had kept watching the movie till the end you would have changed your tune.
I'm w/u 110% I watched about 20 min. of this movie and wanted to go postal & 2 the individual who suggested u watch the entire movie, all I can say is they most certainly are not African American. I'll bet some of their best friends are black & my folks r still waiitng 4 the donkey & 40 acres.
maybe you should watch the rest of the movie to gain some much needed insight on how ppl of any race can be friends and overcome prejudices...seems like your comments about "whie folks" are prejudiced and misguided...remember not every black person was a slave and not all whites owned slaves...
The best movie for 2011 so far and the best i have seen in a long long time. It had me bawling my eyes out, the humor was great. Gut wreanching loved every bit of it. 10/10
