The Reverend Cotton Marcus had performed more exorcisms than he could remember before he visited the Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer. That would be a day he wouldn\'t soon forget. The last person Lious Sweetzer ever thought he would invite to his farm was an exorcist. But his young daughter Nell had been acting so strange. He could think of no other explanation for her behavior than possession by demons. But many long years of attending to those with questionable spiritual infestations has left Cotton a broken man. The faith he once proudly held up as a sheild against evil had deserted him long ago.
This day has brought Reverend Marcus to the Sweetzers farm where he plans to film a documentary of what he hopes to be his final exorcism. All of his past experience could not begin to prepare him for the terror that lay within. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it was soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he would encounter there. The Reverend must call upon a near-empty well of faith to protect Nell, his film crew and ultimately himself..
I guess exorcism movies can be called a horror subgenre. And within that subgenre this movie offers something new. Still i'd recommend people watching the german movie called Requiem from 2006 or The Exorcism of Emily Rose from 2005 instead.
I did not read the comments and watched it for myself. I liked it. It starts slow and builds up of course, and ends up with a surprising twist. If you are looking for gore, jump out of your seat moments then this is not for you. From what I read here, most were hoping for demonic special effects so that is why they were disappointed. Have an open mind and alot of patience...this movie will surprise you. 3.5/5

Considering the fad of documentary style movies, this one was pretty good, yes there are alot of those that disagree... but i believe that the aim of this style of movie was to make it seem more realistic, Blair Witch being the start of it all, then Cloverfield, Paranormal Acitvity, and so on to this one, we tend to have gotten used to all the CGI and big picture special affects to try and give us a scare, or all the fans of gore and guts who wanted more, the intention of these kinda films is the illusion of realism, the star of course being the one in the shot all the time, the panicky camera man who cant keep a steady shot, his side kicks always making sugestions of what to do next, the victims who the star is tryin to save and of course some background actors for some flavour, dont try to judge this movie on just what you see, try to think of what you dont see by the sounds, what they are saying, what they are feeling, then you can really appreciate a movie like this... i give it a 10 / 10
It was nvr supposed 2 B based on, or a follow up to the 1st exorcism its called the last exorcism because its the Rev Cotton Marcus' LAST EXORCISM, jst thought i'd clarify that for you
this could have been a really good movie but was wasted along the way i couldnt really make out what was going on at the end was the son possessed or were they all devil worshiping ?!?! i dont know im gonna have to give this another watch when i can get it on DVD although the story is quite good its not as bad as everyone is saying but I expected a lot better from Eli Roth
I agree the story was great, the actors well played... i didnt much care for the ending myself. That was the only over the top part. *spoiler* And just my opinion of how confusing the ending was but... i think the boy was in with the cult the entire time. The local pastor got to him at one of the youth "parties" and brainwashed him, you know, same ol same ol.
what a pile of crap, so disapointing. chills123 paranormal activity was a good film though not for everyone. anyway i gave this a 2/5, could have done so much better.
i admit was little dissapointed was hoping for a much more scarier film.but to be honest i thought the story was really interesting.i like the feel of the movie as well how they made it into a documentary which made the film more realistic. even if it wasn't for me scary one bit liked what they done with this movie was worth the watch for me.
i read all these comments and i nearly changed my mind to watch this movie.but i did.its not that brilliant like i expected but its not that bad as well.there were good and bad parts.i like the end.7/10
ok. I watch more than my fair share of movies online, (3-5 a day) but I actually paid money and saw this movie in theaters. So sound quality and picture quality weren't an issue... oh wait. the picture was because they filmed it "documentary" style. This really queered the whole deal for me. I was expecting Eli Roth to do somthing fantastic but was sadly disappointed. On the whole, if you liked the other Exorcist movies, then this one isn't for you... in fact, the amount of time spent on the actually possession in the movie was minimal. when it ended, the sigh of disappointment in the theater was audible...
