Great movie has it all, debates the origins of life, death, love, hate, joy, tears, success, failures. Visual graphics of the nebula, white dwarf, and planets are amazing. I love that the characters question, reason, trying to understand why we exist and if a god can hear.
this movie isn't for everyone, it's slow and some what boring at some parts, but if your able to past by all that and open your mind, you will be able to see the master piece that is the tree of life 8/10
SO I just couldnt wait to see this "Masterpiece", I usually like Malick's work, I'm a number 1 fan of Kubrick (and the tree of life supposingly is a modern version of 2001: a space odyssey) so anyway I went to the theater. For the very first time of my life, I left the place after less than 1 hour. It was THAT boring. Like, wow, what the fudge, there really is NOTHING happening, some random scenes of some life in some family, some random views of outer space and a woman whispering some stuff you cant even hear in the meantime. It is going to take a whole lot of time before I get the courage to sit through that big pile of torture for a second time...Damn, it was even more boring than "Da Vinci code" or "The return of the king" from the "ring" trilogy. I'm traumatised, sorry...
I haven't watched the movie yet, but I'm waiting patiently. I know it is a Terrence Malick's movie, therefore I know what to expect.
His movies are different, concentrating on pictures and characters' introspections. If you like his style you will love it, otherwise you will find it boring.
See "The New World" or "The thin red line" for references.
I enjoyed The New World immensely, and liked The Thin Red LIne, but I found Tree of Life to be boring. Not like his other movies. I am going to watch it again. Perhaps I was just tired or something when I watched it in Russian. I felt like I was at the Ballet having to watch a modern piece of choreography, which I find so boring. Love classical choreography but not the modern. Anyway, don't spend money to go see it. Wait for it to show here. You may really like it. Like I said, I will give it another try once they get the glitch worked out. Enjoy.
It is still playing the trailer only and plays it over and over. I watched it a couple of weeks ago in Russian and it had the entire movie. I thought it was boring.
I sent admin at zmovie.tv a note. The trailer for this movie keeps playing over and over. It is not the full movie. I am glad I watched it when it was in Russian because it was the entire movie. I thought the movie really boring but was going to give it another watch just to see if it were attributed to my mood or being tired the evening I watched it that caused me to conclude it was boring. Thought I may have a different opinion if I watched again. It is english now but something is wrong.
The movie keeps repeating the first five minutes in to the movie just so everyone knows, I'd wait for the DVD versions to watch this or just go to the theaters and see it there...
Boring. I am a ballet dancer. I feel like I just left the theater after having to watch 90 Minutes of Modern Dance or Contemporary Dance. (not many modern or contemporary choreography do enjoy...some is excellent....but very little) If you love Modern or Contemporary Dance you will probably love this movie. This is not a movie script. It is more choreography. They would have been better served to have put this into a lyrical dance for 90 Minutes. What a waste of good talent.
Movie aside; wow, Ballet how interesting ballet dancers are the most elegant people onstage lol it just makes me wonder about the ballet dancer outside of dance, it just struck me as interesting . Have A Nice Day (:>)!
