Amazing movie..10/10 These people had heart ..real heart.......OK now no one go over the top but the japanese were known to be very cruel and vicous..they took over many places..so called to modernize but it was just greed...like Englend was trying to overpower all countries and rule..they were also cruel...all people wanted eg..scottland,Irland just to be left alone but the brits had to rule eveywere...greedy ...Don't write and b.t..h at me i'm scottash ,Irish,Duch...and Enlish(brit)..but I still think brits are pompis asses...yes my spelling sucks so What............ ing
Excellent film, the struggle of the Seediq is memorable. The brutal japanese occupation of taiwan is just as brutal as the israeli occupation of palestine today.
a very good movie but in japaness but subtitled in english thosands of japanness soilders fight 300 warriors from jungle tribes if you can watch a subed movie you will enjoy sad and loads of action,10/10
This movie is not common to regular movie lovers. This movie was the contender for 84th Academy Award for Best Foreign Film, It shows the history of Taiwan, the aborigine people of Taiwan, their culture and tradition, their epic fight against the Japanese Colonial Force. Their symbol, Rainbow, is similar to the Eagle of American Indian, it means utopia, freedom and spirit, especially freedom, it cannot be compromised, without freedom, death is the only outcome. Be fair in the judgement of this unique film.
This is the major incident that the Taiwan aborigine (Seediq) fought against the Japanese Colonial force. 300 Seediq killed 130 Japanese, then Japanese slaughtered 1000 Seediq in retaliation and beheaded all of them. Japanese has been very cruel killers. This movie beautified the cruelty of the Japanese. If you knew the history, it is not a good movie.
