I cant seem to edit my other comment so Im posting another. I love the character, totally flawed, and totally unpretensious about it. Im sick of female characters like Carry Bradshaw or those in Desperate Housewives, pretending to be happy, pretensious about everything, trying to be super, and perfect makeup up all the time. Supermov was good too..
Wow, that was painfully embarrassing to watch! The whole film was just doom and gloom, instead of watching a film with a nice bottle of wine, I found myself NEEDING a bottle of wine when I finished watching!....... 4/10...... ;-(... xoxo
I disagree with both of you. I found the movie enlightening, light hearted, engaging and it has altered my perception of popular girls, victimized disabled people and especially married couples with their smarmy children.
First and foremost, 'Young Adult' is NOT a comedy. It is not even a black comedy. The producers should be ashamed for even sneaking that label into the mix. Rather, it is a stern and stark character exploration set in a vacuum which attempts to entice the viewer with a cheapened portrayal of human frailty and a blatantly undeveloped sense of desperation. I am a huge fan of Patton Oswalt and I find Charlize Theron both gifted on stage and breathtaking. However, there is just too little substance in ~90 minutes for me to get attached to the story or even recommend this flick as a time-killer.
I was looking forward to seeing this one, but alas... 2/5

crap film about a miserable self-pitying cow. god that was a painful two hours. don't waste your time. stupid boring crap film. nothing happens except she looks MISERABLE.
